Acrylic Transfer Project
My painting has two baby turtles that have just hatched and are walking into the ocean, starting there journeys. The baby turtles begin swimming into the big blue ocean, following all of there siblings. The baby turtles swam for days before finding other turtles, adult turtles. These turtles helped guide the babies and show them were the good food was, and showed them which reefs were safe and which ones weren't. The baby turtles stayed with the adults for two years before they went off, and they swam there separate ways. The two baby turtles have grown and become old and wise, they went there separate ways and had have found there way back to each other after all these long years. They started their journey together and they want to finish it together. The siblings relationship was ever lasting, they had gone on many journeys cross the big beautiful ocean.

I choose to do my lyrical painting with the song Island in the Sun by Weezer. This song reminds me of Maui Hawaii, where I grew up so I decided to paint an ocean with a sunset. This song makes me feel happy, calm and yet gives me an island feel. I wanted anyone looking at my painting to get a excited, relaxing, and yet island vibe. I used lots of colors and layers to bring out emotions, along with the lyrics I chose to put in my painting. I used the words, when your on a golden sea, as we drift into the zone, on an island in the sun.
To get layers I used lots of washes, this made it easier to get the paint exactly how I wanted it. I had a hard time finishing my painting, because I like to get my painting as perfect as it can be. Part of this project was to love every inch of your painting and becuase I hold myself to a high stander I wanted to refine a lot which made it hard for me to stop and say its good enough.
My painting started out as a bunch of blobs, which the main colors in my painting, and then gradually started becoming into lots of layers of washes. After getting the layers and washes as I wanted them I started doing the main details, this included the waves in the ocean, the sunset reflection, and putting the hidden lyrics into the beach.
